Tembe Denton-Hurst defines success as being as close as possible to yourself and being able to show up in the world how you decide. The book-obsessed beauty and culture writer and author currently works as a staff writer at New York Magazine's The Strategist, where she covers beauty, lifestyle, and books. During the pandemic, Tembe decided to write a novel, which will be out next summer with Harper Collins.
“I write so that Black women feel seen. When that happens, I know I've done my job,” says Tembe. “I speak life (to) my friends and wider circle. I want everyone to do the things that make them feel alive, and so I'm constantly encouraging those around me to follow those instincts.”
