Catherine Curry-Williams

As co-founder of the She Angels Foundation, philanthropist Catherine Curry-Williams awards grants to female founded and operated non-profit organizations that provide mentorship, funding, training, and advancement resources to girls and women. “I have to walk my talk,” says Cat. “By giving women the opportunity through awarding grants that go towards mentorship, in essence it gives them inspiration and a sense of hope.”

Cat has dedicated her life to proactive philanthropy: following the loss of her son Shane in 1997, the Brooklyn, NY native founded Shane’s Inspiration, a global non-profit which creates inclusive playgrounds and educational programs for children with disabilities. The Hall of Femme honoree has been recognized by the March of Dimes and the State of California, and named one of L’Oréal’s Women of Worth. Cat uplifts other women “by listening, really listening, and reminding them to stay true to their own vision.” One way she does that is through interviews for her online magazine and podcast, Wine, Women, and Chocolate, which offers content for women of all ages that “basically gives permission to have your cake and eat it too.”

With such a robust list of charitable achievements under her belt, Cat considers those seemingly minor wins just as impactful. “Success is honoring and acknowledging your small victories,” she says. “Whatever accomplishment is made, it is a step in the right direction.”
