Cortney Herron

Cortney Herron is a painter with a passion for combining muted colors, abstract shapes, and the human form into figurative works and portraits. Self-described as “forever evolving and eclectic,” her work (and personal style) naturally follow suit, taking shape in different mediums like acrylic, digital illustrations, and mixed media. Cortney takes pride in allowing the artistic process to remain exciting and spontaneous, all while tapping into her innermost mood for inspiration She is also inspired by people, culture, and things that make her laugh, and her work reflects the rawness of life in both a serious and playful way. Cortney’s end goal is for the viewer to walk with a strong sense of relatability – especially for those who tend to think outside the box.

“I think that it's everyone's right to live life on their own terms, and this is a big part of how I live my life and navigate the twists and turns that life brings. So when it comes to my art – from the process, to the technique, to the style, to the choice of colors – everything is done in a way that is precisely on my terms,” she says. “There's so much pressure to follow certain trends and formulas, but there's nothing about that that ever felt organic to me. What feels natural, especially when I'm painting, is for me to go about the creative process with no predetermined rules or guidelines. I always feel at my best … when I'm living life on my terms.”

Cortney is based in LA. Her work has been featured in Society6, The Argonaut, Refinery29, VoyageLA, Conde Nast, and more.
