“Success is creating something out of nothing that elevates others, directly and indirectly, and grows their potential to do the same.”
Isabel “Izzy” Nixon is an outdoor-loving adrenaline junkie, board game player and fan of audio mixing and upcycled concept art. She is also a Venture Capital and Growth Equity Associate at KarpReilly, where she manages 11 portfolio companies ranging across the consumer space (including Une Femme Wines!). KarpReilly’s current portfolio is 40 percent women-led or women-founded — and while she admits that there’s “still a ton of room for improvement,” Izzy is excited to be part of a group that is pushing the industry forward at such a critical stage in the company life cycle. “Most of our portfolio's founders have taken a massive risk to go out on their own and have stepped out of their comfort zone in some shape or form,” she says. “It’s exciting and an honor to be a part of their stories and have even a small role in their brave endeavor to build something new.”
The Hall of Femme honoree uplifts other women outside of work, too. Izzy is on the Junior Board of WINGS WorldQuest, a nonprofit that recognizes women in science and exploration with critical unrestricted funding that has been used for expeditions, field and office equipment, legal support and more. Izzy strongly believes in creative expression and thoughtful innovation, and enjoys learning from the various people she meets in her work. “I've had the privilege of developing meaningful relationships that I know will last much longer than any investment period,” Izzy says. “Their drive, creativity and passion are incredibly inspiring, and it makes working on complex problems that much easier and more rewarding.”Find Izzy on Instagram.
