Larisa Love
Hair stylist, artist, salon owner, designer, mentor, educator and Joico Brand Ambassador: this is Larisa. She opened her first salon at age 27, and for the past 10 years, Larisa has striven to be the best artist she can be by pushing her creativity to another level while encouraging fellow hair artists to “do what they love.”
Larisa was born in Ukraine and attended Russian school for years so she could speak, read and write Russian and Ukrainian. When she was six years old, her parents won the visa lottery and they were all able to move to the United States. Even then, Larisa lived a very sheltered life – her father was a Pentecostal pastor and she was raised in a strict home. At 17, she moved out and at 18, she went to beauty school. After receiving her license in 2010, Larisa split her time between three salons in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. In 2013, she began to grow her Instagram following by sharing her work. In April 2015, she opened Larisa Love Salon in Studio City and currently has more than half a million followers on Instagram.
“Things didn’t just happen for me and it takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice. I think a lot of people see professionals on social media and think ‘oh I can do that,’” she said in a recent interview, “but they don’t see everything that went into it or all the work behind the scenes. It does require a lot of sacrifice, perseverance and you have to put in the time.”
