Maya Goldfine

Maya Goldfine doesn’t let ‘big ideas’ stay ideas–she takes concepts through to final creation. After more than 15 years working in retail, including almost a decade at Athleta where she was a champion of sustainable practices for the brand, she is now associate director at The RealReal, a resale app for designer brands. Maya has always cared about sustainability, and her work in the retail industry has been, at its core, focused on keeping items out of landfills. (Almost her entire home was furnished through thrifting and secondhand finds.)

“I am a curious individual and always wanting to learn more and understand the root issue behind challenges, versus just trying to fix the symptoms,” she said. “There are so many opportunities in my position and it's fun to figure out creative solves.

Maya, who is based in San Francisco, is also a freelance photographer who works with smaller brands and spends a lot of time shooting nature. While she’s been told she has an incredible ability to concentrate, Maya is always happy to break her focus to talk about Frank O'Hara poetry, photography, and hot sauce. She’s also a big fan of coffee, her dog, and long walks on the beach (despite them getting a bad rap).
