Nicole Grummons

After spending her teen years playing competitive softball throughout the U.S., Nicole found herself working in the hospitality industry where she fell in love with the equally fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

“I love that hospitality work doesn’t require lengthy or expensive schooling. If you are dedicated and ready to learn on the job and work hard, you can make a decent living without going into student loan debt,” she said. “I also love that people from all different backgrounds can come together and find common ground over good food & drinks.”

In her current role as operations manager at Alvarado Street Brewery in Monterey, California, Nicole is a champion for mental health, equality, and environmental sustainability in hospitality. She recently worked with her team to obtain the Surfrider Foundation Ocean Friendly Restaurant certification and Blue Zone certifications for sustainable seafood and healthy menu options.

“The beer industry can be very intimidating for women (as well as) people in the LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC communities but I am proud to say that I work at a place that is doing the work to be more approachable and accessible to everyone.”
