Rachel E. Cooke

Rachel E. Cooke is not a morning person – it takes a song with a good beat (thank you, Beyoncé), a rose water toner, and the knowledge that she gets to have fun, do good, and kick-ass at work to get her day going. In her role as an innovative communications and impact professional, Rachel has shaped out-of-the-box storytelling strategies for the world's largest brands, nonprofits and business leaders. She played a key role in product launches for McDonald’s USA; developed Advocates for Youth's successful multimedia projects to reach Millennials and GenZ; and, most recently, is helping drive the social impact at 1Community, an independent production and co-finance company that uses film and television to drive real world impact and change hearts and minds.

“What I love most about working at 1Community is the team I get to work with every day. We're a small team, but each of us are dedicated to creating something that Hollywood has never seen before, and that is so exciting,” says Rachel. “We have a big challenge in front of us – can TV and film entertain a wide audience and create a positive, tangible impact in a measurable way? I'm honored to be a part of the team that will figure it out.”

Prior to coming to Los Angeles, Rachel led communications for LeanIn.Org and OptionB.Org. She hails from Washington, DC and is a graduate of The George Washington University.

“In my career, I've been very fortunate to have had strong women role models – in particular, strong Black women who have left behind a blueprint for me to follow as I grow professionally,” she says. “From these leaders, I've learned how powerful women are when we work together, when we call attention to each other's accomplishments and contributions, and when we are transparent about our work experiences. Too often our society wants to keep women small, and if I can do one thing, it's to help women dream as BIG as possible.”
